The number 15

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Fifteen days ago we had to change our site to follow the ‘temporary’ change of VAT for the UK, which has now been set at 15%.

Making important changes to a website is always a bit of a worry, and none more so when it concerns taking payments. I’m very pleased to say that our man got the job done in under 15 minutes from the word go, he bing bonged me back on MSN to confirm the change and made sure I had his mobile in case of any problems (there were none).

This was impressive, especially as he had caught the dreaded cold/flu virus that was doing the rounds at the time. The poor soul probably spent the next 15 hours in bed recovering.

I don’t know if the 15% VAT will stimulate our economics, but I do appreciate the effort put in to make the change from our Web Team. Well done Steffan and the DataDial team!

I just love those orange thingies…

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

They are fantastic, I just need to click on the orange thingy (RSS Feed, News Feed, Data Feed – call them what you will) and then I can rest assured that every now and then my Internet browser will take great delight in telling me there is some new content on the site that I may be interested in. Fabulous, no more clicking on my bookmarks every day to check for new stuff  and I know I will get to see the info almost as soon as its gone up on the website.

We’ve finally put News Feeds on our site, you may have seen them popping up on the Land-Force website over the last few weeks, so now you too can have jobs and CVs landing at your desktop within minutes of them going live – this is excellent for snapping up those sought after CVs before someone else offers them a job!

To receive feeds you need to be using a ‘News Reader’, this is easier than it sounds and you are probably already using one as all the latest Internet browsers have this built in (Internet Explorer 7, Firefox) and even Outlook 2007 has it, so you can get feeds as if they were part of your normal email.

To get started, click on either the Jobs Seeker or Employer link to go through to our site, select an industry you are interested in and you will then see an orange symbol on the right-hand side, click one now and see!

Let us know how you get on.

Do you remember me?

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Ooooo I hate it so much when I have to keep typing in my username for so many websites - then I realised customers always have do it on Land-Force.com!

Whilst not having a ‘remember me’ box surely would not have deterred advertisers and candidates, it certainly makes logging on a much simpler affair as you now only have to bother about your password!  With a website like ours you want people to visit as often as possible (which websites don’t!) so anything to make the customer experience less hassle make sense – perhaps I can come up with my top 5 pet hates on a website soon, but for now the tech guys have done the job and put the box next to the login.

 Yay!
