Smeeden Foreman is an established multidisciplinary practise of landscape architects, horticulturalists and ecologists, based in Harrogate North Yorkshire for nearly 20 years.
To further our expansion we are seeking an Ecologist/Senior Ecologist with particular experience in bat survey and mitigation (a bat licence would be preferred but is not essential). Experience in extended Phase 1 survey, any other protected species licences and EIA would be beneficial whilst report writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients are essential.
Although concentrated in the North and Midlands our work load does cover the whole UK with recent schemes including Cornwall and Cambridgeshire. The range of work undertaken includes extended phase 1 habitat and protected species survey (great crested newts, water vole, badgers, otter and white clawed crayfish), formulation of mitigation proposals and habitat creation schemes often in collaboration with our landscape architects. Generally our outputs are in the form of reports for planning submission, but we also provide input to BREEAM Assessments and EIA’s. We work on a wide range of project types from industrial, business/retail parks, highway schemes and residential developments to community projects. Our clients have included local authorities, private developers, community groups and charitable organisations such as the National Trust.
Please apply with a covering letter and CV, including your salary expectations, by email or send to the address above.
For an informal chat about the position please contact Catherine White or Katie Lawrence.
Smeeden Foreman is an equal opportunity employer.
